These images are arranged thus:

1-9 are on the left side, starting at the front door

10-18 are on the right side, starting at the back wall

(in both cases, then, you are viewing them left-to-right)

If you compare these images with the information on the Eighteen Arhats page, you'll quickly see that many of them differ from the standard symbolism. This may represent a variant tradition, a lack of knowledge on the part of the artist, or simple artistic license.
