Words-and-Pictures:
Soujiji
(as seen on September 7th, 2001,
on the Old Tokaido stage of the Aki
Meguri)
|
| Note:
This
magnificent temple is situated between Kawasaki and Kanagawa (modern
Yokohama) in Kanagawa Prefecture, which are Stations #2 and 3
respectively (from Tokyo) on the
Old Tokaido Highway. You can read about my visit to Soujiji in my Logbook.
You may also choose to start reading about my Tokaido
journey at the beginning, or start at the top of my Aki
Meguri pages. |

|
Soujiji's front gate
is bigger than the hondo
at Honsenji! |
| The gymnasium-sized office where my
book was signed, and where the student's kindly made an amulet
for my safety. |

|
|

|
The Hondo (Main Hall), where I said my prayers. |
| The Butsuden, or Buddha Hall,
where the adoration of the Buddha is practiced. |
